Welcome to O’Connell College Preparatory High School

O’Connell College Preparatory School is the oldest Catholic High School in Texas. Chartered in 1847 by the Ursuline Nuns, we proudly serve families in Galveston, Brazoria and south Harris counties.

Our faculty and staff provide individualized attention, a challenging academic curriculum, and strong moral guidance, creating a learning environment that empowers students from around the Galveston area to realize their goals and ambitions. O'Connell has a legacy of tradition in outstanding academics and a concentrated commitment to the success of our students that is as time-honored as the island itself.

For over 150 years, our school has graduated young men and women who know what it means to be leaders and are ready to take charge of their futures.

Mission Statement2226
